The King Middle School 7th Grade Lady Titans basketball team went undefeated and won the 2017 KBA (Kentucky Basketball Association) State Tournament. The Lady Titans defeated Casey County in the championship game, 43-35, earning them back-to-back state titles.  Read More

MCES Science Class Students Engage in the Pumpkin Project
Students in Mrs. Ellie Vandivier’s Science class at Mercer County Elementary School recently completed a class project using science and math tools to investigate pumpkins. Students had to use adjectives to describe the pumpkin, measure its’ height and weight, find the circumference and see if it sinks or floats in water. Additionally, students had to determine how many candy pumpkins it takes to balance the scales using a little pumpkin, and then examine it with a magnifying lens.  Read More

MCSH Environmental Studies Class Takes Educational Field Trip
High school students in Dr. Ekambaram Elumalai’s AP Environmental Studies class got a very rewarding opportunity to visit a sewer treatment plant in Floyds Fork, Louisville. Students had the opportunity to see the processes of the plant and relate it to what they learned in their textbooks and Dr. Elumalai’s lectures.  Read More

King Middle School students in Mrs. Penn’s Science class, recently completed a class project where students explored the most basic physical principles of roller coasters. They learn about the possibilities and limitations of roller coasters within the context of energy conservation, frictional losses and other physical principles.  Read More

MCES Students Celebrate FarmsCool Week
Mercer County Elementary School students have enjoyed various activities this week as the school celebrated FarmsCool week. There were numerous stations with various farm equipment and animals to create a farming playground. Students learned about farm animals, crops and machinery. They learned what farmers do and how their work makes it from the field to the dinner plate. Pigs, dairy cows, beef cattle, goats and a horse were on site for children to see and learn about.  Read More
