There are many different ways to give.

Pledges
Many donors choose to make a pledge. Pledges can be stretched out over the course of several months or years. Pledging allows the donor to determine a schedule for payment.
Matching Gifts
Many corporations will provide matching gifts in recognition of an employee or their eligible individual’s support of his or her favorite charity. Matching gifts are usually equal to the donor’s gift.
Bequests
You may choose to make a provision in your will for the Mercer County Foundation for Education, Inc. These bequest and trust arrangements often allow a donor to provide significant and meaningful financial support for an area of interest above and beyond what is possible through a current gift.
Cash
Cash, usually in the form of a check, is the most common and popular type of gift. Gifts of cash may be deducted from taxable income as long as a donor itemizes his or her deductions.
Payroll Deduction
Many corporations will provide an avenue for automatic payroll deductions to a charity or foundation. Many donors choose this method as it is simple and easy. No checks have to be written by the donor and contributions are made automatically to the organization of his/her choice.
Appreciated or Depreciated Securities
Significant tax advantages usually will accrue to donors who choose to make outright gifts of securities. Because of tax considerations, it is usually more beneficial to contribute securities directly to the Foundation rather than selling them and giving the proceeds.

To make a gift of appreciated or depreciated securities notify your broker or custodian bank you intend to make a gift to the Foundation. Instruct the broker or bank to contact Allen White, Investment Representative, FNB Investment Services at (859) 734-0759 regarding the disposition of the securities. Or send certificates without endorsement and, under separate cover, send a stock power or attorney for each certificate to:

Allen White
Investment Representative
FNB Investment Services
776 South College Street
Harrodsburg, Kentucky 40330

A letter of transmittal should accompany the stock certificates, stating the name and address of the donor and the purpose of the gift. Gifts of securities will be credited at their mean market value on the date of delivery to Mercer County Foundation for Education, Inc.

Donor Recongnition

Every donor’s gift is important as it is a sign of the donor’s commitment to educating our youth for the betterment of the student as well as the community.

All donations will be acknowledged with gratitude. The Mercer County Foundation for Education, Inc. will not disclose any individual dollar amount per donor, however, grouping of donors within categories may be published. Publicly announcing donations and gifts is important. It provides awareness to the community of widespread individual support and educates others about the importance of participation in common community efforts.

We hope all our donors will allow us to acknowledge them, however, if one wishes to remain anonymous, the foundation board will honor the request.
