The Harrodsburg Day Treatment Program is located on East Lexington Street and is operated by the Mercer County School District in cooperation with the Department of Juvenile Justice. The program capacity is 30 students. The program serves both male and female children, ages 12 through 18 who have demonstrated an inability to function in a public school setting due to behavioral and/or academic difficulties and/or probated through the Department of Juvenile Justice. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive array of community-based services for at risk youth directed toward promoting rehabilitation and stabilization within families and to provide opportunities for growth and development to meet each individual’s human potential. Youths reside in the community and attend school Monday through Friday from 8:05 a.m. until 3:05 p.m. Before a youth is placed in the Harrodsburg Day Treatment Program, the youth’s individual needs (legal, emotional, degree of restriction, degree of structure, academic, vocational, social and personal) shall be considered. The Harrodsburg Day Treatment Program shall serve youth from Mercer County. The court system, parents and representatives of all Mercer County Schools may refer youth to the Program. Students who are accepted into the program are expected to remain with the program for a period of one year and may not repeat any part of the treatment after their initial one year participation.
