ADMISSION |
Students
are admitted only upon recommendation by the Principal and approved
by Day Treatment/Learning Center Committee, or direct placement
by the Superintendent of schools. |
INTAKES |
Once
student in determined to be a candidate for admission, an intake
meeting is held. This involves the student, parents/guardian, building
level administrator and the alternative center Principal/Director
and Counselor. |
TRANSPORTATION |
Transportation
will be provided by the district, student’s parents or students.
Students may report to school as early as 15 minutes prior to start
of school. Students must leave school grounds promptly at dismissal. |
SCHOOL SCHEDULE |
Instruction
will be provided Monday – Friday 8:05am – 3:05pm in
Math, English, Science, Social Studies, Life Management and Social
Skills. Some electives are
available. Students may obtain job/community service and work successfully
at least 10 hours per week for which they will receive credit.
Each student will have an individual educational and behavioral
management plan. The Mercer County District calendar will be followed
with the exception of 35 extended days. |
PROGRAM |
Upon
entry student will be given a computerized standardized test to
determine entry educational level. Computer assisted instruction
using Novel Star and Pace meets the Mercer County curriculum and
the Commonwealth of Kentucky requirement. Parent involvement, flexible
schedule and a less than 12 – 1 student/teacher ratio are
hallmarks of the program meeting the needs of students grades 6
thru 12. |
ENVIRONMENT |
The
Day Treatment/Learning Center is a drug and tobacco free environment
endorsing the Safe School Concepts. Students attendance is required
on a daily bases. Students are required to follow Mercer County
District dress code. No electronic devices are permitted. |
PARENT INVOLVEMENT |
Parent
involvement is the most critical component for student success.
Parents will be kept informed through weekly reports and involvement
through monthly meetings and 60 day reviews, which requires both
parents to be present. |
RELEASE |
The
Day Treatment/Learning Center Staff as well as the home school
administrator will determine when the student may return to the
home school, based on student progress on Behavior Management Plan,
Individual Educational Plan and attendance. |
