LOCAL ADVISER AND STUDENT ATTENDS TRAINING SESSION
FOR FAMILY, CAREER AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA

Reston, VA— Alli Grant National Vice President of Finance for the Family, Career and Community Leaders and Miranda Goodlett the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America adviser at Mercer County Senior High School recently completed a leadership training session at FCCLA’s national headquarters in Reston, Virginia. The training, held on August 18-21, was the first of many responsibilities for Alli and Miranda  and nine other officers and advisers from across the country that make up the National Executive Council and National Executive Council Adviser (NECA) team.
Throughout the week, the advisers and officers participated in membership and co-curricular workshops and developed a deeper understanding of national programs. In addition, they began planning the organization’s upcoming year and most important annual event – the FCCLA National Leadership Conference, scheduled to take place July 4-8 in Chicago, Illinois.
Miranda is the adviser of Alli Grant who was elected as the National Vice President of Finance at this year’s National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.  Her next responsibility will be participating in trainings at the National Cluster Meetings, a series of four regional leadership training sessions held in November.
FCCLA: The Ultimate Leadership Experience is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences Education. FCCLA has more than 219,000 members and nearly 7,000 chapters from 50 state associations and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The organization has involved more than ten million youth since its founding in 1945.
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is unique among youth organizations because its programs are planned and run by members.  It is the only career and technical in-school student organization with the family as its central focus.  Participation in national programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers, and communities.
