Letter to Parents/Guardians

November 27, 2017

This morning, Mercer County Senior High and Mercer Central/ Day Treatment implemented a lockdown when a student showed an administrator a picture of a FACEBOOK post stating there would be a shooting at MCSH and Central.  The Harrodsburg Police Department and Mercer Co. Sheriff’s office were contacted immediately and officers were sent to the schools to make sure all students were safe.  From the officer’s investigation, it was determined that the post was not directed towards our school district but instead Madison Central High School.

Thanks to the actions of the staff at Mercer County Senior High and Mercer Central, students were never in any kind of danger.  We are extremely grateful for the Harrodsburg Police Department and Mercer Co. Sheriff’s office who respond to our calls immediately and work so hard to help us in times like these. Since the initial reporting of the post from the student, many parents have also contacted us to make us aware of the post.  We appreciate your help.  We consider your children’s safety our first priority.  If you have any questions regarding this incident, please contact us at 859-733-7000.

Sincerely,

Mr. Dennis Davis, Superintendent
