We need volunteers to help our local Emergency Responders and school systems prepare for an Active Shooter Exercise. The Mercer County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will hold an Active Shooter Training Exercise on October 20th at Burgin Independent School. This exercise will provide all Mercer County Emergency Responders the opportunity to implement and revise their skill and training through a 'mock' situation. Burgin and Mercer County School staff and students will gain insight to what happens in an emergency, test our communication systems with responders and families, and assist us in identifying areas to improve.
Any high school aged student interested in helping the Mercer Co. Emergency Responders train for an Active Shooter Emergency, can volunteer to
participate in an Active Shooter Training Exercise on October 20th at Burgin Independent School. Students must have parent permission to do this.
Students can earn community service hours for their time. The sign-up sheet and Workers' Compensation Form are available from the school secretary. These must be returned before October 1st.
