Important KY Immunization Requirements Update for the 2018-2019 School Year

Effective July 1, 2018
All students grades Preschool-12 must have proof of receiving their first dose of Hepatitis A vaccine and have an appointment for the second dose before they can attend school.  Additionally, students age 16 or older need Meningococcal ACWY vaccine (MenACWY).

Parents and Guardians,

Please do not forget to make your child’s appointment to update their immunizations if you have not already done so.  All students grades Preschool-12 must have proof of receiving their first dose of Hepatitis A vaccine and have an appointment for the second dose before they can attend school. Additionally, students age 16 or older need Quadrivalent Meningococcal ACWY vaccine (MenACWY).

Your child may have already received these vaccinations but we may not have this documentation at the school because older immunization certifications did not require this information. If you are not sure, you can contact the nurse at your child’s school or your health care provider.

Thank you so much for addressing this now so we will have a smooth start to the school year next year.  It will be here before we know it.  Please send a new Certification of Immunization to your child’s school nurse as soon as possible.  Certifications can be dropped off at your child’s school, emailed, or faxed.

Thank you,

Mercer County School Nurses
