Heather French Henry Celebrates Veterans with MCES
Mercer County Elementary School students honored Veterans for their service and sacrifice in a special assembly held at the school on Thursday, November 1.  The program began with the Pledge of Allegiance by a group of 2nd grade students and singing of the National Anthem by the Master’s Servants – Billy Montgomery, Delmar Warren, Bob Williams and Maurice Baker. Students in Mrs. Daniels’ Kindergarten class played handbells to You’re a Grand Ole Flag and America the Beautiful.

Heather French Henry, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, was the guest speaker. Henry has received numerous awards for her work with veterans, as well as winning the 1999 Miss Kentucky pageant and Miss America title in 2000.

The Master’s Servants sang God Bless America and the program concluded with the presentation of certificates to Veterans by Stacy Charles, MCES Guidance Counselor and guest speaker, Sharon Martin with Heritage Hospice.
