On Tuesday, February 27, the students of KMS enjoyed a program performed by Bright Star Touring Theatre. Bright Star began 15 years ago and has performed to over 2000 school age audiences. Their productions range from “American Tales and Tunes” to “Beauty and the Beast”. Each production with historical value has curriculum standards tied to it to help reinforce what teachers are teaching in classes.
The program entitled, “Frederick Douglass” tied in to the study of Black History in the social studies classes.
Program description from their website: “Frederick Douglass’ life story is truly awe inspiring. From his escape on a Maryland plantation, to his days as a newspaper publisher, to his role as a presidential advisor, Douglass promoted education as the key to success and bravely fought to make America a better place for all. This production celebrates the power of education and how each of us can accomplish whatever we set our hearts to.”
