Recently, several 7th grade GT students toured the E.W. Brown facility to find out where many of them get their electricity. They discovered that coal burning units produced the majority of electricity. There are also hydroelectric units, solar panels, and natural gas units which are used to produce electricity.
Once the electricity is generated and sent through the electric lines, it has to be "stepped down" because it is too powerful for home use. Students enjoyed the solar panels the most and had several questions about their usage.
