Celebrating Excellence in Mercer County Athletics
Mercer County Schools have a rich tradition of athletics, with many individuals making extraordinary contributions and achieving superb accomplishments over the years. Established in 2025, the Mercer County Schools Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes and honors these remarkable athletes, coaches, and contributors who have played a vital role in our schools’ athletic success for over our 100-year history.
Categories for Nomination
The Hall of Fame is accepting nominations in these categories:
1. ATHLETE: A former high school athlete from any Mercer County school whose high school achievements were extraordinary. Athletes must have graduated at least ten (10) years before nomination. Those schools include Cornishville, Harrodsburg, McAfee, Mercer, Rose Hill, Salvisa, Shakertown, and Westside.
2. COACH: A former coach from any Mercer County school whose accomplishments in coaching merit recognition. Coaches must have been inactive for at least three (3) years or reached the age of 65.
3. CONTRIBUTOR: An individual who has made outstanding contributions to athletics outside of being an athlete or coach. This includes roles in athletic administration, sports medicine, sports media, and other significant contributions.
4. ALUMNUS / ALUMNA: Any person who distinguished himself/herself in the field of athletics after graduation.
5. TEAM: A team that has achieved special recognition for capturing championships or for historical significance. Teams can be nominated after 5 years following their season. Examples of team nominations are historical significance (first team, etc.), State or Regional Championships, or set school, state, or national records.
