Mercer County Superintendent Search Begins
At a special called meeting of the Mercer County Board of Education, March 16, the board approved the working timeline for choosing the next superintendent. This timeline includes establishing the screening committee, potential dates for interviews, and a flexible target to complete the process and name the new district leader by the middle of May.
The screening committee, consisting of one board member, two teachers, one classified employee, one principal, and one parent, will review and vet applicants before recommending candidates to the board. The screening work will begin in late March and run through the end of April.
Kathy Fields, a search consultant from the Kentucky Association of School Administrators, has been hired to oversee the process. “Mercer County Schools is an outstanding school district with a rich heritage of excellence in education. One that will undoubtedly attract quality candidates for the screening committee to consider. I am confident that the next superintendent of Mercer County Schools will carry on the outstanding leadership present in the district for many years.”
