Changes to MCSH Graduation

Class of 2020 Graduation Change announcement

With the rising number of positive COVID-19 cases within Kentucky, along with the increased anxiety and concern for the safety of our students, families, and staff, our graduation plans have changed for this Saturday, August 1st.  We will be implementing an alternative/virtual plan that will be broadcast live at 8:00 pm on Saturday, August 1st on the high school facebook page.  This graduation program will consist of our scheduled student speakers and we will go through the graduation ceremony as it was originally scheduled at Alvis Johnson Stadium.

I realize that it is disappointing for many to not be able to have an in-person graduation, but the safety of those that would be in attendance is our main priority.  This graduating class has had many obstacles to overcome and we have tried to make the best of the pandemic that has altered our everyday lives.  Fortunately, we had many seniors take advantage of the opportunity to walk across the stage and have their photo taken with family members, in their cap and gown, earlier this summer.

We are still going to produce commemorative graduation programs that will be made available beginning on Monday, August 3rd at the high school.  Also, if you have not picked up your diploma and diploma cover case, it can be picked up at the high school as well. Finally, this has been an unprecedented year for everyone and I cannot tell you how special the Class of 2020 is to all of us at Mercer County Senior High School.  If you have any questions, please contact the school at 733-7160.
